"The Road To Wholeness"
These scenes I have painted from the Bible tell the story of who God is and of His desire to have a relationship with those who love Him. To love God is a choice. However when we learn who God really is the choice is an easy one! He is a loving Father who is all powerful, all wise, and always there with open arms to protect, heal, and provide for His children who will, one day, live with Him in that awesome place called Heaven!
Follow along as the story unfolds.

No one likes being deceived. We all like to think we are smart enough to recognize and avoid a trick. Yes, our wish is to help one another. But God’s wisdom is needed. Satan is very clever at appealing to our desire to appear as the hero. Also when something demands a quick decision, we need to be extra cautious. The short answer is we need to take time to hear God’s wisdom!

For those of us living in America it is hard to view our condition as living in a pit of despair. But my experience in Asian countries woke me up to the real world! Entire societies Have been taught and live out the view of life that says survival of the fittest is the only way humans to make it! Meeting women who had been rescued from child slavery made me realize that we, who have ben taught the about God, must tell the world how God is able to free them from Saten’s bondage!

“He Did It For Me” began as friends and I were teaching a man who had been in reform school and prison all his life. He said “No one ever loved me.” We told him how Jesus died on the cross so we could be free of Satan’s bondage. He was just not getting it. Then I sketched Jesus on the cross, making a bridge for us. The light went on! He got it! “He Did It For Me” has been distributed in six countries!

The descriptive language in Revelation 8:5 was begging me to paint it. Studying about the censer being used to symbolized cleansing, I was excited to prophesy through this painting that God would send his angel to us to cleanse the earth! Are we at that place in history now? God, how we need your cleansing!

Elijah needed to prove that the Lord God of Israel, whom he served, is real, so he arranged a show-down. Each would call on their god to send down fire to prove they are the true God. Worshipers of Baal began dancing wildly around their burning sacrifice. Nothing happened. Then it was Elijah’s turn. He laid the bull on the altar praying, “Lord show them that you are the true God. “ The fire of the Lord burned up the burnt offering, the wood and stones!

Looking at this painting, one would think God’s anger is directed toward His children. But that is not the case! His anger is toward the enemy of His children! (Psalm 18) He is truly a loving Father to those who choose Him as their Father! We must make a conscious choice between battling life alone or with our God who is all knowing, all loving, and all powerful.

This story makes me both happy and sad. I am happy when any person is wise and prepares carefully for their eternal, forever life in heaven with Jesus. But I shed tears for those who ignore Jesus’ invitation to follow Him, ending up Om hell where there is pain and loneliness! Read God’s word, confess your sins, and ask Jesus to forgive you so you can go with Him to heaven when He comes!!

I know a dad who teaches his three small boys how to recognize poisonous snakes because he takes them hiking and wants them to be safe. I thought of this as I read Eph. 6:11-18. Those who follow Jesus have a Father who also cares deeply for we, His children, and wants to keep us safe. He designed an armor to protect them from their enemies on their way to heaven.

Are you tempted to live in pursuit of selfish goals? Ignoring the Invitation God gives us to become His child is a very dangerous road to travel! God, our creator, knows what brings true, lasting joy and peace in this life, ending in a perfect place called heaven! Surround yourself with believers and enjoy this life together, encouraging and helping one another!

As a child I recall putting my feet in my dad’s big work shoes, thinking these would be great if I ever met up with a snake! Now we can put on our heavenly Father’s spiritual shoes by taking authority over the powers of dark-ness! “We loose ourselves from lawlessness and deception, and bind ourselves to the spirit of truth,” in Jesus Name.” Jn. 15:26

Paul Septer’s teachings, portrayed in this painting, were lessons I needed to keep my heart guarded. I could see some of those sins on the drawbridge of my heart had led to undesirable actions! We need the blood of Jesus to keep us from being overcome by evil, and destroying our love, joy, & peace.

What “things” can be important enough to cause me to abandon my walk to the promised land? My whole goal of eternal bliss in that awesome place called heaven cannot be interrupted or even slowed a little bit by too much “stuff”… unnecessary things that do not help us get there. The book of revelation is a complete and finalized story of Jesus Christ. I vow not to let anything get in the way of my arrival to the promised mansion!

No one likes being deceived. We all like to think we are smart enough to recognize and avoid a trick. But I will admit I came very close to falling into a temptation as it looked like something helpful and life sustaining. Yes, our wish is to help one another. But God’s wisdom is needed. Satan is very clever at appealing to our desire to appear as the hero. I have learned when something demands a quick decision, to be extra cautious. The fact was that what looked so right would have landed both parties to end up in bad shape. The short answer is we need to take time to hear God’s wisdom!

As a pre-teen reading verses about being in a pit did not seem realistic. But later experience in Asian countries woke me up to the real world! “He Did It For Me” began as friends and I were teaching a man who, beginning at the age of five, had been in reform school and prison all his life. He said “No one ever loved me.” We told him how Jesus died on the cross so we could be free of Satan’s bondage, but he was just not getting it. Then I tried sketching Jesus on the cross and people walking across the bridge it created. That did it! It was like a light went on and he got it! I was convinced this scene would cause many others to understand as well and decided to paint it. It became “He Did It For Me” which has been distributed in six foreign countries in three foreign languages. God be praised!!

The descriptive language in Revelation 8:5 caught my attention, and was begging to be painted. “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out His name from the book of life.” Studying about the censer being used to symbolized cleansing, I was excited to prophesy through this painting that God would send his angel to us to cleanse our earth! Are we at that place in history now? God, how we need your cleansing!

Elijah was challenged to prove that the Lord God of Israel, whom he served, is real. Elijah commanded Ahab to gather 450 prophet of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah and all the Children of Israel for a show-down. They then agreed on Elijah’s plan to test each of their gods. Two bulls were prepared sacrifices and laid on the wood with no fire under them. Each would call on their god and the one who answers by sending fire, was God!
Worshippers of Baal began dancing wildly around their sacrifice, cutting themselves to show their passion for him. Nothing happened. Elijah mocked them saying, “Cry louder. Maybe he is busy or on a journey or sleeping.” They continued until evening with no results.
Then it was Elijah’s turn. He repaired the broken-down altar of the Lord, laid the bull on it, and poured water on it to assure there was no fire there. Then he prayed, “Hear me, Lord, that this people will know that you are the Lord God, and that you have turned their hearts back to you again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering, and wood and the stones!

Looking at this painting it would be easy to assume God’s anger is directed toward His children who have been disobedient in some way. But what a surprise to discover that is not the case! His anger is toward the enemy of His children! (Psalm 18) I had to paint this picture because everyone needs to know this side of God! He is truly a loving Father to those who choose Him as their Father! We must make a conscious choice between battling life alone or with a god who is all knowing, all loving, and all powerful. I like being on the side of a Father who created me, protects me, and has plans for me to spend eternity with Him in heaven!

Paul Septer’s teachings, introduced to me by a friend, were lessons I needed to keep my heart guarded. I could see some of those sins were on the drawbridge of my heart that had led to some undesirable actions! God knew I needed the lesson of Jesus blood and how it can protect us from being overcome by evil, destroying our love, joy, & peace. This teaching needed to be displayed in an easy-to-understand way. God allowed me to be the one to paint it.

My desire to reproduce both what I see and what I imagine as a way to recall and enjoy the world around me was strong from an early age. I have painted from both nature and imagination. But it was when I shifted to Biblical scenes that subjects really began to come alive and my paintings came began to serve as communication for ideas, thoughts, and opinions.
God's story carries life. Images offer an effective way retell it, even crossing language barriers! I love creating scenes that speak of my all wise, all loving, all powerful Heavenly Father! From simple cartoons in charcoal to Jesus on the cross in oils, whatever it takes, my passion is to share the truth from the Bible which guides all sincere seekers to unite with their creator and accept His offer to spend eternity with Him in that place called heaven!
Here are two of God's many, many promises in His word, the Bible, to all who wish to become His children: Isaiah 41:10 "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Matthew 7:7: "Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened unto you."
